Show Notes

What if you could prepare yourself for the challenges of franchise ownership BEFORE you ever opened your doors?

Brittany Tryon is an Air Force veteran, athlete, and first-time franchise owner who left a career she wasn't passionate about to pursue more freedom, purpose, and control through Alloy Personal Training.

While exploring franchise opportunities with Kim Daly, Brittany discovered something unexpected: Choosing the right franchise is only part of the equation. Developing yourself as the business owner is just as important.

That's why Brittany became the first franchisee to join The Zee Suite® BEFORE opening her business.

Now that her Alloy Personal Training location is open, she's facing the challenges every new business owner must navigate. But instead of letting temporary setbacks shake her confidence, she's applying months of personal development, leaning on her community, and maintaining belief in herself, her team, and her future.

She's even sharing what she's learning with her manager and her brother, who owns a business of his own.

In this episode, we discuss:

Anyone can feel successful when business is good. The real test is who you become when business challenges your expectations.

Franchisors provide the system, training, and support. But how you think, respond, lead, and make decisions determines how effectively you use those tools.

That's the missing link we develop inside The Zee Suite®.

If you're buying a franchise, preparing for your grand opening, or navigating your first year of franchise ownership, this episode is for you

[00:00:06] Kim Daly: Welcome back to Create wealth through franchising podcast and Kim Daily TV in my studio today. She was once my candidate becoming a franchisee, and she's also a student in the Zee suite. Please welcome Brittany Tryon of Greensboro, North Carolina. She is an Alloy personal training franchisee. Brittany, welcome to the studio of Kim Daly tv. [00:00:31] Brittany Tryon: Thank you so much for having me. Kim. I'm really excited. [00:00:34] Kim Daly: I'm excited to have you here. So let's start where we start. Every interview, I want to go all the way back what was happening in your life when you decided, I need to do something different and you found Kim Daly? [00:00:47] Brittany Tryon: Yes. I was working a 9 to 5 corporate job, had been working that same job for several years, and just really wanted something more in my life. I wanted something that I really could resonate with and give back to people. I wasn't sure what that was, which is how I found you. Looking for franchising and, you know, exploring the opportunities there. And so that's what really drew me to franchising specifically. And you put in front of me five very different options, and Alloy happened to be one of them. And the more I just went through that process, I very quickly weeded out most of the others, and it narrowed down to Alloy and one other. And again, the more I just went through that process with Alloy, the more I knew that this was the one for me. I was very aligned to the mission. I was aligned to the avatar. A little personal background of why the avatar really spoke to me. I watched my grandparents age. I watched them, you know, stop moving around, stop being mobile, losing their strength as they aged, and their health very quickly declined as a result. And unfortunately, like the typical American story, you know, they went into a nursing home, stopped moving, and eventually passed away. And it just made me determined that I don't want to do that with my life. And now Alloy helped me be able to also spread that to other people. [00:02:25] Kim Daly: That's such a good story. I don't think I knew that before. So tell us a little bit about the job you were in. Was there. Were you worried about a layoff, or were you just, like, bored with your career? I remember you and your husband sitting here in the studio talking to me initially. His name's Derek, correct? [00:02:45] Brittany Tryon: Yes. [00:02:45] Kim Daly: Yeah, I remember. Okay. And I remember those early conversations we had, but I don't really remember the pain point in your life. That was like. Because franchising isn't the. Oh, oh, yeah, obvious thing. I'm just gonna go buy franchise. So, like, let's dig it A little bit further for the listener who might be out there thinking, I think I'm interested in franchising, but I don't even really know why. Does somebody else pick it? [00:03:08] Brittany Tryon: Yeah, yeah, for me it wasn't about a layoff. It was more so bored is a way to put it. It was more so I was just looking for something more that I was more aligned with. So I, you know, what I do or what I did in my 9 to 5 was very, we'll say administrative, project and program management work. And in an industry, frankly that I don't really align with, it's in technology. And I'm personally not very technical, but I enjoy helping people. And so that of the job I enjoy, but the fitness side of things, I have personally worked out and been in the gym working out and strength training for gosh, 12, 13 plus years now. And so that part of it also aligned with the mission of, you know, trying to help other people and avoid the stagnation of just letting yourself go as you age. But for, yeah, for the job part of it, it was more so looking for something I was better aligned with would be the answer. [00:04:17] Kim Daly: Okay, now you sort of said job as in past tense. And I know that when you first signed your franchise agreement you still had that job. So are you now saying that you no longer are employed? [00:04:30] Brittany Tryon: Well, it's an interesting story because I was working at a job doing very similar to what I am doing now in my 9 to 5. I took a little bit of a break. I didn't know what I wanted to do specifically, but I knew I wanted to do something else. And so I took probably three to four months off and just kind of thought through, started exploring and that's when I came across you. And then, since then, like once I was going through that process, I did get another job. But I knew that even with getting another job, I eventually wanted to maybe slowly get out of the corporate life as I built up the franchise. [00:05:10] Kim Daly: That's what I remember, right. I remember looking for a bridge, which is a very common scenario, a model that I build all the time for so many people because most people's lifestyles require two incomes, right? And you just can't walk away from a good paying job to go chase your dream. You know, like for most people that's not reality. And so we're looking at these businesses that can be general manager run where the operator can be the owner, can be a CEO working on it in that more what we call semi active role, which doesn't mean Passive. It just means not full time. Um, because you have full time eyes and ears through your general manager. So that was the model that we had built for you, as I recall. Correct. Okay, so you got us there. And so then we went through the investigation. We looked at several options. I only show three to five options. Because part of recognizing what you do want in a franchise is knowing what you don't want. And the nos come faster. It's easier to identify what you don't like than it is to, like, stand up and be courageous and bold and say, I think I really like that. I like. Saying yes to owning a franchise is not an easy thing to do. Even when you're, like, super, super excited, there's always this level of angst of, like, oh, my gosh, am I really gonna do this? But that's why you, you know, work with someone like Kim Daly, a franchise consultant that can help ease that, guide you. So, you know, you're asking the right questions, talking to the right people, doing all the things that you can do before you say yes. So you have more confidence in that final yes. Okay, so you signed the franchise agreement with Alloy. Now, were you also in the military? [00:06:52] Brittany Tryon: I was. I was in the Air Force. [00:06:54] Kim Daly: So we're recording this in October of 2026. And Brittany, when did you sign your franchise agreement? [00:07:00] Brittany Tryon: I signed my franchise agreement in 2025. [00:07:05] Kim Daly: So it was like, in the summer of last year, correct? [00:07:08] Brittany Tryon: Yeah, exactly. [00:07:09] Kim Daly: About July, but over a year ago. Yes. My memory's serving me pretty good. So I'm sure you were just active, too, from being in the military. And were you a sports person as well? [00:07:19] Brittany Tryon: I was. I did volleyball, cheerleading. I did track for a short stint, basketball for an even shorter stint. [00:07:26] Kim Daly: So, yes, I love it. I love it. Well, and as she said, I mean, the business she chose aligned with her values. It aligned with her just her own personal passion, which sometimes that we're able to work that out, especially in these kind of sexy, fun businesses like fitness. But most importantly, she found awesome people. Correct. Who you just, you know, have a. Have a long track record who are very stable in the fitness industry. They've been through all different economies and trends and cycles. And for me, when I'm looking especially at a fitness brand, that's very, very important to me. Like, I'm a fitness girl, so I'm probably a little bit harder on fitness franchisors than I am other franchisors. And I've also been in this, you know, role as franchise consultant for over 20 years, and I've seen a lot of fitness things come and go, so I don't, I just don't show like every fitness man that's out there because my spidey sense is usually up. Like, where are you? Where's this brand in five or seven years? But the Alloy Personal Training brand, like personal training is the core of everything in fitness and the founder has been a personal trainer since like 1990 something. So the guy knows what's up. He is the guy to go to when it comes to fitness and personal training. So I felt very confident in this model. I placed a lot of other people into the model. So great. So we got you to this point where you said yes to the dream. You were able to start keeping your job and become a full time, a semi active owner with a full time general manager. So you were, I think, the only student in the Z Suite last year who joined before they had a business up and running. That's the story I want to tell next. Like, so what was happening in your mind other than that you knew Kim Daly because I worked with you to help you invest in that franchise. But what was it about how I was positioning the Z Suite to you while we were working together that led you to say, I need to do that before I open my doors? [00:09:27] Brittany Tryon: Yeah, well, I mentioned project and program management. So I'm a planner. I like to plan ahead as much as I can and kind of just prepare myself for things. And so, you know, in my mind it was like, okay, you've never done this before. You definitely need somebody in your corner that can help you with the mindset piece of it and help you navigate all of the things that are going to be coming up before you even get there. And so for me, that has really been key because you taught things that I never heard before. You've referenced several different materials, books and things that are great materials and great reminders, reinforcements of everything that you teach in the Zee Suite. If I were to do it over again, I'd do the exact same thing because it has been, it has just been so instrumental for me and preparing myself for the things to come. It's so easy to, you know, get caught up in, oh, you know, this person. We thought we had them and you know, for whatever reason they decided not to join or we had somebody that tried us out and for whatever reason they, they didn't stay with us. And, and it's easy to get caught up in those little nos we call them. Right. And kind of lose focus a little bit on like how successful we have been. And you had your office hours yesterday. And I happened to have a conversation with my dad on the same day. And it was just so funny because I was hearing you talk about the Zee Suite and you building up the Zee Suite. And from my perspective, I'm like, man, you know, she's so inspirational. It's just been amazing to watch her grow this thing and how many people she has now. And, you know, and I'm sure from your perspective, it's like, I want more people faster. And that's very much been my perspective with you. Exactly. And I had that conversation with my dad and he was like, well, how many people do you have now? And we're. We were at 45 when we had the conversation. We've since gotten one more, but it's, you know, it's like 45. And he's like, wow, that's so impressive. And that's amazing. And so, you know, just, just reminding myself of the perspective of, yes, these things will take time. I'm not in control of what the timeline necessarily is, but it's a matter of just being consistent with the things that you teach in the Zee Suite. And it's been, like I said, just instrumental for me. [00:11:56] Kim Daly: I love it. Thank you so much for that validation. I think it was the perfect use of build out time for anybody who's out there who may be in a build out, you know, waiting for your location to open. What an amazing way to invest in 3, 4, 5, 6 months, however long you have to wait in preparing your mindset to understand, like, the resiliency that's required, the patience that's required. Because as Brittany is saying, it's so easy for every single human to focus on the lack what we're not getting what we thought we were going to get where we thought we would be by now. But once you understand the nature of reality and how results come, you understand that those very lackful thoughts continue to send you more situations to think those lackful thoughts. And this is one of the biggest things, right? It's learning to understand how our thoughts become things when we say the word mindset. Brittani, when you hear the word mindset, like before the Zee Suite, did you give it an eye roll? [00:13:08] Brittany Tryon: Yeah, a little bit, for sure. [00:13:10] Kim Daly: Because, like, people are like, oh, I have a positive mindset. Kim, you know, you're just selling positive thinking, but now that you've been in for nearly a year, what would you say to those people who are like, oh, she's just selling positive thinking. [00:13:24] Brittany Tryon: Yeah, It's a very, it's a very interesting concept. I don't even want to call it a concept, but it's a very interesting thing to learn about because I always, you know, thought of myself as a realist, right? Like I'm not positive or negative, I'm just a realist. And like the reality is X, Y, Y or Z. And the whole premise here is like, you create your reality, right? Like you, you focus on things that you're looking for, you're bringing into or you're calling into your life. And that's where the focus is. It's not, it's not brainwashing yourself to believe something that isn't necessarily true. It's just where you're placing your focus and where you're placing your attention. And so for me, that has just been, you know, the key to everything. Learning that and understanding that has just opened my eyes in so many different ways. And I've had great conversations with others about the same thing, including my own brother who is, you know, starting his own business and going through some of the same struggles. And so having those conversations, it's been, it's been great. It's so good. [00:14:29] Kim Daly: One of the things that's very gratifying for me because I'm, you know, coaching 54 students at the time of this recording from I think it's 28 different franchise brands at this point. And you know, the franchisees often come in believing that it's their franchise, it's an issue in their franchise or their marketing or their technology or their whatever specific to their universe. And then they step into this wider community of, you know, multiple different franchisees from multiple different brands. And then they're like, oh, so these are human problems. They're not franchise specific problems. Now I'm not negating responsibility of franchisors and that, yeah, sometimes there are technology glitches and. But these are the things, right, Brittany? Like nothing in a business is ever going to be perfect. And the minute that it is, the economy will change and what you just had mastered is no longer mastered. So like it, business is this dynamic environment. And so the constant need, as the owner of this business, use fully aware that they are creating their own reality is to be adaptable, to not allow the outer circumstance to control the inner dialogue. [00:15:44] Brittany Tryon: Right? [00:15:45] Kim Daly: That's what you said. Right? It's so easy to focus on the no instead of saying thinking from the positive of, Well, I have 45 people, so I do know how to do this. So they're not my one but then I always say, they'll be back. That's what I always say about the Zee Suite. They didn't come down, but they'll be back. It's just a matter of time, right? And people like, oh, they're just spinning it positively. Like, yeah, well, do you think you can go build your wealth by spinning it negatively? It's not a spin. When you understand the nature of reality and how our thoughts literally become things that we hold in our hand, you will realize what we're learning in the Zee Suite goes far beyond putting a smile on your face and thinking the glass is half full. It's literally quantum physics. But it's the most fun quantum physics you're ever going to learn because it's applicable to every single thing you do every single day. Right? And the biggest thing. Let's go to this one, Brittany. People out there will be like, well, you know, I'm really busy in my franchise. I mean, I'm not really making the kind of money I want to make, but I don't know if I have the bandwidth to take anything else on. And I'm over here going, I'm failing miserably at helping you. Because, like, what do you say to someone who doesn't have time to learn how to think properly about their business? It's evidence that they're not thinking properly because their bank account is bankrupt. What do you say? [00:17:09] Brittany Tryon: Yeah, I, I have heard the same thing. And it's, you know, you. You kind of want to shake them a little bit. It's like, if you only knew. But if you only knew. And, yeah, it does take time. And it takes, you know, it takes your time and attention. But this is where I would say you really should be focusing some of your important time and attention. Because to your point, the, the creation of your reality, the seeds that you're planting, why would you not want to plant the right seeds? Why would you not want to think the right way and think the right thoughts and focus your mind on the things that actually matter and will actually move the needle that you're so desperately wanting to move? [00:17:53] Kim Daly: Correct? Exactly. And I think your doors haven't been open long enough for you to get the momentum by the law of attraction going on your side. [00:18:02] Brittany Tryon: But what will. [00:18:02] Kim Daly: What will happen and what. You've heard stories from me and other sweeters, you've heard us say that, you know, it's when you're in alignment with your ideal avatar and you're out there, what we say, like, turning your magnet is on every day you're out there just being your happy abundance self, shaking hands, meeting people, sharing what you do out in the world. Literally the right people, the right opportunity at the right time will come to you. What? When you're in alignment, it becomes effortless. So sure, tell me you don't have the bandwidth. Tell me you don't. Your business isn't where you want it to be, but you don't have time to learn anything, any other way of doing it. And you'll go out there and you'll roll up your sleeves and you'll hustle and grind and you'll glory in that grind and you'll double down when it isn't working and you're going to exhaust yourself and burn yourself out and maybe you're going to grow by 20% and the next year. It's not sustainable. But that's how most business owners live. Isn't that what business ownership is about? Kim, come step into my reality where for the last 13 years I have not been hustling and grinding. I have found the effortless way that enabled me to go to build his, make history in my business. Double that a couple years later, double that yet again, come hours in half and still make over seven figures. Even take a sabbatical to form this new company called the Zee Suite, and was literally still doing my other business sort of in my sleep unconsciously and still made a million dollars. Like that's the effortless way. Because I've proven from my very own results that the result of our business, the money in the bank, is not a result of the physical effort, it's a result of the alignment. So the alignment to multimillion dollar Kim allows Kim to show up in a way in the world that opens doors, bring the right people to her, creates opportunities she could never effort for on her own, that allow her to be highly, highly effective and efficient. So other people that do what I do look at me and they think, how is she doing that? She must be working crazy hours. I'm not. So if you think you don't have bandwidth for the Zee Suite, I would say, come and talk to me. Let's challenge. Let me challenge you on that because from where we stand, Brittany and I, you don't have time to not get into alignment before you go out there and hustle and grind. If you want to find the effortless way, the effortless way that builds predictable, controllable, sustainable revenue. How many business owners out there have predictable, controllable, sustainable revenue? Not too many. I do. I know how to do it. And that's why I started the Zee Suite. Because the secret's too good to just not share it. Right? That's why I'm like. When people say no to me, I'm like, really? And I take it personally because I'm like, okay, I gotta get better at helping you see the value. Because if you own a business and you don't understand how your results are coming, you are working way too hard for way too little. Your goals are too small. You're leaving too much on the table. You're gonna walk away, maybe get him by totally unsatisfied. And I just can't have that because I've known something totally different. It's why I. There's so much joy on my face and what I'm doing because it's literally like. It's like selling magic, only it's not. It's quantum physics. That's why it's as certain as mathematics. That's why it's sustainable and predictable, because it's like math. So, not to commandeer the whole conversation, Brady, I often get off on my little soapbox tangents, but throwing it back to you, so you. I love how you said you joined the Zee Suite before you opened your doors, and it was like a great, great decision for you. Not just because you're a planner and a realist, which I didn't know, which is amazing, but because you've now built what we call, like, this mental garden. Right? You understand that the seeds you're planting are the. The ones that you want to reap a harvest from? Because we're all planting seeds every day, right? Whether they're seeds of lack or seeds of abundance, we're all planting. We all have faith in something. What do you have faith in? [00:22:23] Brittany Tryon: Absolutely. [00:22:24] Kim Daly: And how do you have faith to believe? And you've never done it before. How do you believe when maybe you've done it? And you keep hearing no, Brittany. This is the work of the Zee Suite right here, my friends. [00:22:40] Brittany Tryon: Yes, exactly. Exactly. Yeah. I think it's a matter of. I mean, you. You talk about this in the Zee Suite, but having those goals, especially the daily goals, and just being consistent. Being consistent with your. With your practice of what you're learning in the Zee Suite. But, you know, I think it's interesting. And you. You talked about the seeds, planting the seeds. And what I have realized throughout all of this is, you know, the seeds that I'm planting in my own mind also affect kind of my mood and the vibrations I'm giving off to Other people. So if I'm having an interaction with a potential customer and I'm not in the right headspace, that reflects off of me and that impacts the conversation I have with them and that impacts the, their feeling of is this really something that I want to continue exploring? Is this the right place person for me? And so absolutely that, that is all so relevant to especially these, you know, interpersonal relationships as we're building businesses and that with my team and just the community, you know, taking the mindset of I'm here to serve and you know, even if I meet someone and they're not even interested in personal training, that's a person and you know, they're, they may know somebody that's interested in personal training or they may decide that they love the interaction so much they want to give, you know, a Google review or you know, they, they want to support us in other ways in the community. And so it's all, it's all interconnected and all interrelated. But the, the planting of the seeds needs part has really struck home with me and how I am presenting myself, you know, like I said, to potential clients, to my team, to those around me because it makes such a huge difference. [00:24:40] Kim Daly: And would you have ever, I mean would you have ever have thought about that ripple effect that you just so beautifully described where how your thoughts translate energy wise to your client and then how even if you meet someone who doesn't say no, they could be a referral source. Like, like those are all things that we talk about in the Zee suite. Would you have thought about those things prior to owning a business and prior to coming to the Zee suite? [00:25:04] Brittany Tryon: I would not have. No, I, I don't think I would have it. It's more so I think I would have thought the way typically people think which is, oh, it's you know, it's a lot of hustle and grind and you just gotta like grin and bear it, you know, get through it as best you can. [00:25:21] Kim Daly: And that, that alone changes everything. The whole approach that you just so beautifully and eloquently it makes me smile so big. We're coming out with some data very, very soon here in the Zee suite. And the data that I am the most proud of. In our first survey I surveyed all of my students. Only 55 of them have returned. 55% have returned the survey. That's why I haven't put the data out yet because I'm waiting to see if I can get more than 55% of them to participate. But I'm Sure, Brittany did hers. But the data that I'm most happy about. 92% of the students in the Zee suite who participated in the survey said that their referral business is up quarter over quarter, like 92%. Brittany, what's the like number one message of the Zee suite regarding marketing? [00:26:11] Brittany Tryon: Word of mouth and referrals is the easiest way to get your business to grow. The easiest because you've already got your controllable. Yes, you've already got that avatar and you want more like them. And that's exactly the message that I tell my current members. I'm like, who do you know that's like you that you would love to bring in here. I mean we want more people like you because we love you. We, you are exactly the type of person and people that we are trying to help and tell us more like send us more people like you, please. [00:26:45] Kim Daly: Referrals are the highest quality people we get. They're free. And it really ultimately is the way to build predictable, controllable, sustainable revenue. Because the, the predictable controllable sustainable means that the leads prospects that are coming into your business are the right avatar. They're not necessarily the right avatar coming from marketing every time. Right. You have way more ability to control the quality and the quantity once you understand how referred lead sources work. So little tangent there but that's one of the data points I'm most inspired by. They're hearing me, they're listening to me. They're doing the daily work that changes everything. And you know, building a referred lead organization doesn't change your business overnight but 1 month, 2 months, 6 months, 12 months. You better believe it is absolutely how I went from 8 years average performing to 1 year later history making. I will tell anybody who asks what makes me one of America's top franchise consultants is not because I'm the best consultant. It's because I'm a world class prospector for people who. And that's the message I leave with every single student in the Zee Suite. Become a world class prospector. But it all comes back to a level of awareness. It comes back to controlling the thoughts come back. It comes back to every single thing we've already talked about in this episode. So Brittany, thank you so much for taking a chance after you signed your franchise agreement and coming to the Zee Suite before you open or blazing that trail for others who will follow after you. Those of you who are out there who are in a build out situation listening to this podcast on the way to opening your doors, come let's have A conversation about what you could learn that could help you get your doors open faster, find your ideal avatar faster, get to your break even membership or your break even, you know, dollar amount every month faster. Because you're in alignment. You're not efforting and struggling and striving every day. You're waking up and doing the daily work, which is the alignment work. And that's the work that changes everything. Brainy, thank you so much for sharing your story and being our special guest here today. [00:29:01] Brittany Tryon: Thank you, Kim. I really appreciate the opportunity. [00:29:04] Kim Daly: I have a suspicion that once you just keep going, the law of attraction is going to catch up to you. It's like compound interest. And we when you are consistent, just like going to the gym, right? You don't go to the gym and lift weights one time and look at, you know, look for your biceps and be like, well, I can't see him. It doesn't work, right? The same thing with all the things that you're doing. It's not about sporadic action. It is daily, consistent action in the small things that compound over time and create the big things. And that's what you're doing. You've verbalized it eloquently, so I know you're doing it. [00:29:49] Kim Daly: Let's go, baby. Let's go. Okay, well, for those of you out there who are ready to go, whether it's to find the perfect franchise to help you build the business and life of your dreams, I would love to be your franchise consultant. And if you're out there as a franchisee and you're like, man, I need a little bit of this positive, happy mindset. Just kidding. I'm being sarcastic. But if you are looking for more because you know there's more for you, I would love to talk to you about joining the Zee Suite. Follow the link in the description below. And I can't wait to be your daily mindset coach.
