[00:00:06] Kim Daly: Welcome back to Create Wealth through Franchising podcast and Kim Daly tv. In my studio today, one of my best friends in the whole wide world, Trisha Berthelsen. She is the VP of franchise development for IV Nutrition. She's also one of the original eight in the Zee suite of people that I coached. Tricia, welcome to the studio of Kim Daly tv.
[00:00:31] Earl Nightingale: Thank you for having me.
[00:00:32] Kim Daly: Thank you for being here.
Okay, so in today's episode, we are going to talk about the strangest secret that helped Trisha accomplish impossible goals. What she thought were impossible goals. So, Trisha, before we dive in and talk about all the fun we've had with the book the Strangest Secret and how that's literally changed your life, let's go back to the beginning of your journey in franchising. Tell the listeners a little bit about your background and how you landed even at Ivy Nutrition.
[00:01:06] Earl Nightingale: Absolutely. Well, I actually started out in sales and recruiting, learning how to build a process, sell to people, build relationships, and handle rejection. And by way of that, I found franchising. So if you would have told me 10 years ago that I'd be sitting here in franchising, running national development for a brand, I would have probably laughed at you and not even even really understood what franchising is. Right.
But how I came into it is I started working for a company that worked with multiple brands, so I ran development for five of their brands. And at one point, there was nowhere else to go. And so that's kind of where, Kim, you and I already knew each other, but I was in the Zee suite with you being coached and started thinking there was more and more, and how could I get there and how could I magnetize that to me or call it in? Right. I knew there was more. I just didn't know how to get there.
And so by working with you, that's kind of how we called in opportunities.
[00:02:10] Kim Daly: All right, so let's go through that. So just for the listener. So we've been friends for a long time because she's in development, and I would serve up great candidates to her, and then she was looking for her next level. Her. Her next level job, her next level of life experience.
And happened to transpire at the same time that I was thinking I wanted to get into coaching and, like, kind of reaching out to people who knew me to be like, I'm not really sure if I'm ready to be a coach, but, like, if you'll come, like, I'd really like to try. So we were. We were all kind of like, coming together to. For this great little experiment that we now call the Zee Suite, which is now not an experiment, it's an actual thing with a lot of good data and a lot of good happenings. But Trisha was one of those original eight that came when I was just like, I don't know if I'm ready to be a coach, but I think I am, so please come. And she came. So when, when we got together, it was in March of 2025. And at the time of this recording, It's October of 2026.
And I remember saying to group, listen, you guys are like my guinea pigs.
And if I want to go out into this whole franchising industry and like, disrupt everything and tell people there's an easier, faster, better way to build success in your franchise.
It's the missing link, is your mindset piece.
I need you all to set impossible freaking goals. Like, this is not the time to think small. We need to move miracles so we have some epic stories that I can then take out into the greater world. So that's what I said to Trisha and the other seven people back in March of 2025. Remember that, Trish?
[00:03:49] Earl Nightingale: I do, and I laugh as you say you were a guinea pig. Because I'm like, you were totally testing all your theories on, you know, is it. You knew they will if you will, they will work. But for us, we're like, okay, I've never done anything like this. It's actually kind of scary. But I'm. I'm going to listen to Kim. She's a testament to it.
And here we are.
[00:04:08] Kim Daly: Right, Right. So I had been using these great books and intuitive ideas and spiritual laws, quantum physics. These are all the things that we study when we say we're studying wealth in the Zee Suite. I had been using them for, you know, the last 13 years to build this legendary life. And I knew that I knew how to use them.
What. What I wasn't sure of or confident was, can I teach other people? People who don't have 13 years of personal development and studying wealth underneath them? Where do we begin this conversation? What can they believe for and what can they do? And so the very first place we began was with the book the Strangest Secret, because this is the book that literally changed Kim Daly's life.
[00:04:55] Earl Nightingale: Right.
[00:04:56] Kim Daly: I read this book. I audible it, actually. It's free on YouTube. And. And when I listened to it the first time, I immediately went back through, and then I did the exercise in the book, and then I set a timer on my phone. So the first day of every month, I would remember, oh, the strangest secret because you start out strong and then you, like, get weak. You forget. But I did that and I ended up doing it for two years.
So every 30 days I was brought back to the strangest secret and my goal card. And.
And so this is where I began with the Zee suite. So back to you, Tricia. So it's March of 2025 and I'm like, okay, people, what are your impossible dreams that you have absolutely no belief of how they could happen? Those are the ones I want you to write down. So pick us up in your life. Like when I said that to you, what kind of dreams were you dreaming about?
[00:05:53] Earl Nightingale: Yeah, I was searching for my notebook this morning of that class when you and I only found this one. And it's not my actual gold card, but it says you can't even see, what would you love? And that's the one thing you always say, what would you love? Just write it down. And when you tell someone that you're like, well, you know, I would love A, B and C. That's like wildly, like far fetched, right? You're like, no, that's what you need to be writing down. So I maybe didn't go as wild as you wanted, but I wrote down what I wanted in my next stage of life and a few of those that I can remember. And I wish my goal card is stuck in a book somewhere and I could not find it. This morning because I have so many Zee suite notebooks was number one. I wanted to move into a vice president, a franchise development role knowing that my past sales life, I did that, right? And so I knew I was ready to not just be a director, but to own the whole process. A to Z, that was number one. So that started a whole, you know, open doors of, okay, let's start searching out, let's start meeting people, let's call it into us. Number two was I wanted to spend more time with my family, right, with my son and my husband. And we are always ships in the night, all three of us. So it was specifically to travel more together. And the third was I wanted to lose £25. I dress complimentary of myself, so you probably don't think, oh, you could lose £25. But as we age, you know, I want to be healthy, I want to stick around. And I thought that was maybe doable. I had no idea how, because I don't know. But I wrote it down. And the very last one is in the Works, which we'll talk about, right? So those were my three biggest ones that I put down. And then in our class, Kim says, write them down. Put it on your goal card. And now this goal card, it needs to be in front of you. So mine sits right here. I see it at my desk every day. I also actually recorded mine and put it in my phone. Because we talk about what you listen to as you go to bed. It gets imprinted on your mind. So I said, okay, that's going to be the last thing I listen to every night. And I would just play it with my AirPods in as I fell asle. And I was like, this is working magic. I don't know how, but it's gonna. And then I would consistently read and listen, read and listen and just keep telling myself those three things.
[00:08:10] Kim Daly: And then what happened?
[00:08:13] Earl Nightingale: Then weird things started happening that were like, wow, is this magic?
I was introduced to people and by way of connections, I fell into understanding that IV Nutrition was looking for someone to run their development and bring it in house.
And prior to being here at Ivy Nutrition, I worked for a sales organization. So I was never a part of the corporate team. I was a growth partner. And that really meant a lot. I wanted to be on the team. I wanted to stay with the company.
And so that was huge. But that came by way of many different conversations that were very. Were just kind of dropped in my lap. Right?
And I think it was the. The fact of thinking that nothing will miss me. Right? Everything is working in my favor. I need to keep having conversations and then coming to class and hearing you talk about the strangest secret every day and to keep willing that.
[00:09:12] Kim Daly: So let me go back and fill some of that in. That's so beautiful.
So we. We. Let's go back to when she said she wrote down what would you love? Um, and you know what? Actually, Tricia, before that, let's just go back to the goal, the whole idea of having a goal. Because I bet there's a lot of people who might have already turned off the video at the eye roll, right? Like, oh, goals. Yeah, of course successful people have goals, blah, blah, blah. I've set goals before. So let's go back to when I said, okay, let's set goals. And what's the. If you're human, what's the normal reaction to a goal setting exercise?
[00:09:50] Earl Nightingale: Honestly, I didn't know that I wanted to write my goals down. I was like, what? What are you talking about? And you hear it. Write your goal. It's not real unless you write it down. But how often do you write something down that it actually comes into fruition? Right. So I actually was kind of like, I don't want to do your goal card. Like, I like the thinking exercise of it. But finally I did do it. I wrote 1, 2, 3, 4 down, and I put it there. And I listened to you. And I said, well, knowing your experience and your background, I'm just gonna trust you that something is gonna come from this goal card.
[00:10:24] Kim Daly: I love it. Thank you for the trust. Yes, because there's a lot of people who. They don't even set goals anymore because the goals haven't come true in the past.
And oftentimes they haven't come true because we are the ones who abandon the goal. Not because it wasn't meant for you, because we abandon it. We stop thinking about it. We're not expecting.
So there's energy behind everything that we're doing. And if we stop that flow of energy, what you want can't find you. So now then she said, I wrote down, want what you want. So this is another big thing, because by the time we've lived a little bit of life, we're 30, 40, 50 years old. Wanting what we want isn't always possible. Right. You're like, Kim, I can't want what I want. I have responsibilities. I need to be responsible. I have, you know, all these other things, like wanting what I want comes last. Well, when you come to the Zee suite, I'm going to help you understand why if you don't allow yourself to want what you want, you can never. I mean, obviously you can never have it, but you're never going to feel totally satisfied and happy. You're always going to live with this feeling of resentment, of frustration, of less than, because you're living less than you are capable of living.
So wanting what you want is the beginning of the entire process. The beginning to building a goal card is allowing yourself to want what you want unfiltered.
Not saying, oh, yeah, but that's not realistic, or, oh, yeah, but I tried that before and it didn't happen. Or, oh, yeah, but my mom told me, like, that doesn't happen for people like us. No, want what you want, period.
So those two things I wanted to fill in.
So she wanted what she wanted and she put it down. She wanted to be a VP. Had she ever been one in franchising? No.
But little by little, as she's sending out that energy and especially love how you did that before you went to bed, did you hear what she said the conversations found her, she was taking the action that she knew to take.
But then the conversation she needed to have that led her to an opportunity to be in a company that was looking for that found her. And now as I introduced her, she is the VP of IV Nutrition, of franchise development for IV Nutrition. And you know what else I saw, Tricia, as you were explaining this, Goal number one and goal number three, to lose weight.
And that's like something that's really hard for a lot of people, right? It's very hard, like especially after a certain age. But you, you actually accomplished one in three, kind of all through the same way, because you didn't just attract a job, you attracted a job at a functional health clinic where these people could run your labs and be like, oh, we can teach you. We can teach you and give the supplements you need to help your body do what it needs to do to shed the weight. Is that not true?
[00:13:38] Earl Nightingale: Absolutely, no. And I've learned it so much more than I thought I even knew coming here. Right.
[00:13:44] Kim Daly: I was a two for one.
[00:13:46] Earl Nightingale: It was almost a.
[00:13:47] Kim Daly: How am I going to lose 30 pounds? I have no idea. Oh, how am I going to be a vp? I have no idea. Well, we're going to give her this job at IV Nutrition. Not just any franchise, but one that's a functional health clinic. And boom, she gets two for one out of the. Setting that one, two goals, but landing that one job.
Amazing.
Yeah. And what was the second one?
[00:14:05] Earl Nightingale: To travel more with my husband and son.
[00:14:09] Kim Daly: I love that. And you know what? I thought as you were saying it, okay, so you're, you're asking for more job, VP level job, and you're asking for more time off.
That's a total place for the logical mind to be. Like, you are asking for way too much. Right. Because in corporate America, that just doesn't happen.
The VP job comes with more responsibility and less time off. What happened for you this year, Tricia?
[00:14:36] Earl Nightingale: Well, it wasn't that I took more time off. It's that we fitted in around what was happening. Right. So if we had a big conference, the boys would come in and we would stay the weekend. So it wasn't always rushing home to do life. It was, no, let's enjoy life in a new place. And so that made it more impactful is that we were making memories and adventuring together in places that not all of us have been. But I wasn't always rushing back to just dive back into the day to day.
[00:15:05] Kim Daly: I love the way you said that. That was so beautiful. So there's. The principle of life is happening now.
How much of our life do we postpone? Right. Waiting for everything to be perfect or waiting to fit it in instead of just saying, how can we fit it in to what is happening now and let it unfold in the time that we do have? That was absolutely beautiful. I love that. Okay, well, you said there were four things on that original goal card, so what was the fourth one that you haven't yet mentioned?
[00:15:34] Earl Nightingale: I put that I want to write and publish a book and I had started writing it and I like it. I don't know that I love it, but I. It's not done. So that one has not been accomplished. So it will stay on there.
[00:15:48] Kim Daly: And I want to. Before we even address the this, because I want to say something specific about the timing of the goal.
From March of 2025, when we set those goals, to when did you get the job? When did you start working for IV nutrition?
[00:16:04] Earl Nightingale: So August of 2025.
Yeah.
[00:16:11] Kim Daly: Okay. So the impossible goal of finding a VP role is accomplished in six months.
[00:16:16] Earl Nightingale: The weight loss that I started in July and last July, it had been a year, so.
[00:16:24] Kim Daly: And you've done.
You've lost a lot of weight, more than your anticipated goal, Correct?
[00:16:30] Earl Nightingale: Yes.
[00:16:30] Kim Daly: She's like a mini, a mini version of herself, even though she was already mini before. It's unbelievable. I love it. And I love like a little morning text when you're like, I'm at the gym at 6am and I'm like, I don't know how you do that.
I'm there by 7:30, but not 6:00am this girl is on it. Yeah, but you know, so she's taking that.
[00:16:48] Earl Nightingale: You don't have drop off anymore, so you can, you can take. Get there at 7.
[00:16:53] Kim Daly: True. Because I'm a sad dinester. It's true.
Don't remind me. And then, and then the fitting the, the, the family time into, you know, doing life where she is at a conference or an event, instead of making it like we have to wait until we have an extra vacation time, like so all of those things happened relatively quickly. What can seem impossible when we set the impossible goal and we dwell from the impossible goal? And the rich ideas for how to make the impossible possible start to bubble into our mind because that's how it works.
And then we're bold enough to follow those inspired ideas allow us to make a seemingly impossible goal possible in a short amount of time. A relatively short amount of time. It can be 30 days, it can be a Year. But the idea is that it doesn't really matter, because once you're not just dreaming the dream, but you're, like, living the dream. Do you regret the time it took to get you there? No. We only regret it because we stopped dreaming the dream. So let's get to the book.
So the book was on the goal card in March of 2025, and again it's October of 2026, and the book's not done.
Has she failed in meeting her goal? No. The failure is only if she gives up.
Because the universe may be waiting on her to experience life in a new way or have another experience that that's going to open her mind to what she really wants to say in the book. But until she has that experience, she can't finish the book.
So just because we set a timeline to a goal and the time comes and goes doesn't mean the goal is not on the way. Doesn't mean we're not capable of achieving the goal. It just means the universe has a different timeline than we had. So what am I suggesting? Just move the timeline. Don't give up on the goal.
Move the timeline. And if the next timeline comes and goes, move the timeline again.
As long as you are dialed in, the longer you stay in the vibration of the expectancy of achieving that goal, one day you will be living that goal. You will be living the dream rather than dreaming the dream. And I know it because look at the Zee Suite was a goal that I set when I was 15 years old. I said to my dad, I want to be a motivational speaker. My dad looked at me like, I don't even know where to begin on that one, Kimberly.
So, like, go to school and become a doctor.
And that was my path. But here I am at 54 years old, having started this company two years ago. 52 years old. So that was a dream that nobody had any idea, including me, how to make happen. But through my life and the seeming twists and turns that I thought were deviations from the path I was on going to medical school, I somehow magically ended up exactly where I knew I wanted to be when I was 15 years old. How does that happen?
Because the dream never died inside of me. And I remember being in Dallas as a franchise consultant, and I used to host live events. And I remember being in the hotel the morning of, like, getting ready to go do a live event and sitting on the edge of the bed and being like, oh, my gosh, look at me. I'm kind of like a motivational speaker because I kind of was like, these people were in career transition. There was, like, 30 people coming out to hear me talk about how I could help them at this. This pivot in their lives.
And I was like, look at me patting myself on the back. I'm a motivational speaker. And that was like, oh, my gosh, I'm living my dream. At that moment, the Zee Suite wasn't even in my imagination. It wasn't until years later that I had the dream to really step into every single day being a person of influence who could coach franchisees and help them study success and get to their next level of themselves. So the whole point, not to commandeer this whole conversation, is that I dreamed a dream at 15 that now today, at 54, I'm living. Do I regret that it took me all these years? Are you freaking kidding me? I've been having the best time in my life for the last 13 years, building this legendary thing as a franchise consultant that enabled me and prepared me to be the coach that I wanted to be at 15. So it took time. It took time for me to have experience. It took time for me to study it. It took time for me to feel confident and ready. But I'm ready, and here I am. And so who cares how many years it took? And so when she does go to publish that book, who cares? It will be the best book that she could write because she was fully ready to write the book that was on her heart that right now, today, she may feel ready for, but it's just not the time.
And how do we know? Because it didn't happen.
[00:21:57] Earl Nightingale: Right, Trish?
[00:21:58] Kim Daly: Love that.
[00:21:58] Earl Nightingale: Yeah, I love that you always encourage us to keep working towards it. Right. It didn't happen. We'll move the goal line. Right.
And one of our exercises that you also teach us is to write it out. So it's not that the goal card was magic. It was that we were seeing ourselves walking through each of those goals and envisioning it and reading it and pressing it on our mind repeatedly.
And that allows the doors to open so that you can walk through them because you've already seen yourself there. So I think that that's an exercise also that plays into the goal card of. It's not just, I'm going to write it down and toss it to the side. No, I'm looking at it every day. It's on my mirror. It's in my car. It's in front of my computer.
[00:22:40] Kim Daly: Yes, because we are nothing but a software program.
And what gets repeatedly impressed into the Mind will be expressed through the body. That is a fundamental law, like the law of gravity.
And that's how everything that we create is created. There's only one creative process in the universe. And when I say that we study wealth, we study success in the Zee Suite, that's what we're studying. The one and only creative process in the entire universe. Every single thing we create, whether it's for our good or not, created exactly the same way. If you're curious and you want to know more, I would love for you to follow the link in the description below. Right now, I want to toss this back to you, Tricia, one time to close this out because you're not a franchisee, which is who I typically interview on the show. But I. You have a different perspective because you work on the inside. And based on the original eight, who were all franchise insiders, I now have two communities that I coach. The franchise insiders, the consultants, developers, franchise CEOs and the franchisees, which we call suite achievers.
So for those people out there who follow me, who are franchise CEOs or developers or consultants, just can you. Do you have any final words just to inspire them to what you've really taken away from the Zee Suite, beyond a goal card that has helped you in your role as a VP and in helping other people change their lives?
Is there anything that stands out, like as a whole from the Zee Suite for you?
[00:24:27] Earl Nightingale: Yeah. One of the biggest things that stands out is the way that you coach us. And there have been times that we get to be with the franchisees you coach. Right. Which sometimes it could be someone, that someone from the insider group even got placed in that franchise or system and they believe for their success, but they're not there yet. So we get to see them learn beside us, even though we're in kind of parallel universe industries. Right. And, and so the whole notion that it is really about locking in and moving forward and believing for it, but you have to do the work. You have to do it every day. You need to come into your office on Sunday night and spend 10 minutes putting, laying it out. Where are you focused making your list?
And I think that if any CEOs or founders are watching this, there is always a next version of ourselves that we're seeking. Right. And in the Zee Suite, we're always learning that where we are now is not where we'll be in the next minute or the next hour. And so how are we willing that with our, our minds? And that's what we're learning that's what you're teaching us.
And I can say it truly works. The work works.
[00:25:40] Kim Daly: I love it so much. Thank you so much for being my, one of my best friends and for being my guest today here on Kim Daily tv. You're such a beautiful person.
