Welcome back to Create wealth through Franchising podcast and Kim Daily tv. We have a daily double in the studio today. My man, Dan Spellman. Welcome back to the studio of Kim Daly tv.
[00:00:22] Dan Spellman: Thank you, Kim. I'm really happy to be here.
[00:00:25] Kim Daly: I am so happy to have you back here. I love this man so much. For my listeners out there. You may recall Dan and I recorded an interview a few months ago. Now, he came to me in November of 2025 when I opened the door of the Zee Suite for the sweet deal. He was part of the suite deal, the 90 day free trial to learn about personal growth and development and what that had to do with helping him turn his business around. It did. And he found a place where he was growing and he was in the zone. And then he started reporting his highest month ever. And another month later and I said to him, dan Spelman, we haven't seen your highest month ever. And then. So I wanted to invite him back because this is something that happens to every single one of us and it's normal and it's natural. It doesn't feel good. But I wanted to offer him like a live coaching session so all of you could benefit while I'm helping him move through this part of his life. So, Dan, let's bring your words into what I just said. Take us back to, to April or so of this year. As I recall, when you started to report, things were really turning around and becoming magical for you in your franchise business.
[00:01:38] Dan Spellman: When I first started working with you, it was really challenge to believe what you were saying, but I took the leap and said, okay, this is where you are, Dan. If you want to get better, you've got to take a chance. You've got to do something else. So that's when I started to believe in it and I started to put it to work and I started to get the results and I got some really good results. You had advised me to do more networking. I did the networking, which landed me the largest job I've ever had. And on the heels of that was the second largest job I'd ever had. I'm like, okay, this works. I'm there. I know what to do. And then I stopped doing the work and I've been struggling for probably two months now.
[00:02:18] Kim Daly: It's okay. So when you. I guess I'm
[00:02:20] Dan Spellman: human.
[00:02:21] Kim Daly: Because you are human, Dan. You are working in your superhuman and you came back to your human. That's what we say in the Zee suite. Okay? So, Dan, for the listener out there, when you say you Struggled to believe.
But you decided to believe and do the work. Can we get some clarity around what that means? Believe in what and do what work?
[00:02:41] Dan Spellman: Okay, before I join disease, we would consider what you do. Kind of voodoo.
Like.
[00:02:48] Kim Daly: Like I'm selling positive thinking as I've been accused of very a lot lately.
[00:02:53] Dan Spellman: Who does that work for? That doesn't work for anybody. Nobody I know has made it work, so why would it work for me? But I was struggling really bad and I needed something. I needed to make a change. I needed to believe in something outside myself. So that's when I dove in.
[00:03:10] Kim Daly: It's actually you needed to believe inside yourself. So the work that we do is very true personal development in that when we own businesses, it's very common to be externally focused. Our senses are heightened. And so when we're in that survival mind, which we all are, when we start a business, when the bank account is running low, when the leads aren't coming in like we expect, when our expectations are not being met, we feel that fight or flight feeling in our nervous system, which heightens all of our senses because the body's main job is survival. And your body doesn't recognize that the tiger isn't coming. Your body recognizes the same feeling as the tiger coming when you look at the bank account and it's low.
So the heightened senses make us externally focused. We're looking for the danger. And so when things aren't going right in our business, we call it the marketing, we call it the territory, we call it anything that doesn't require us to go inward.
But when you come to the Zee suite and I explain to you that when you're in survival mind, you cannot create an abundant life. And you start to study what I just said.
Survival versus creation. A calm, relaxed, confident, bold nervous system compared to one in fight or flight.
Automatically when I say the words, oh, there's something to that. Go ahead, Dan.
[00:04:48] Dan Spellman: That calmness that you just referred to is what I definitely experienced when I started to do the work and believe in the work and believe in the words. Prior to that I was anxious all the time, nervous, worried, mad at myself that I wasn't doing better.
What do you think you are, Dan? Get it done, Just get it done. It doesn't just get done. I know that now.
[00:05:13] Kim Daly: And you can't get it done from that place.
You might be able to effort and struggle and use enough action oriented work to make progress, but it's never sustainable. So what we want to do is build predictable, controllable and sustainable results.
That's what I did for 13 years in my business and that's what I'm teaching Dan and my other Zee Suite students to do.
[00:05:41] Dan Spellman: There you go. You did it.
[00:05:43] Kim Daly: So now you found the sweet spot inside of yourself. You were doing the daily work. That's the D A I, L Y work. But because my last name is Daily, we often wink, wink and say the Daly work, which is putting on a new mind, which is remembering how powerful we are, which is bringing our energy back away from our senses and our logical mind and stepping into our creative mind, which is our imagination, where all things are possible, and working from a bold confidence that comes from inside, through understanding and study of this work. So we start putting these rich ideas into practice and go back to April. That was your largest month ever, wasn't it? And that was like at your third year mark. Is that true? Three years in business, his largest month ever. And then what happened in June, I believe.
[00:06:38] Dan Spellman: Yeah, June. I had that second big job.
[00:06:41] Kim Daly: His largest month ever.
[00:06:43] Dan Spellman: Yeah.
[00:06:44] Kim Daly: And then July and I said, we haven't seen your largest month ever, Dan. So from when you were in the zone and things were working, tell us a little bit about how your day to day life felt. What were the stories you were telling yourself? How were the leads coming in? What kind of leads were coming in? Tell us how when you were standing in your full power, the world seemed to respond to you.
[00:07:11] Dan Spellman: It did respond for sure. The leads that came in were high quality leads. And I started to take the approach of where previous to the Zee suite, I would on my way to an appointment say, geez, I hope I do a good job and I hope these people buy from me to where now when I go out to an appointment, I'm saying to myself, why wouldn't they do business with me? And it makes a big difference. It just allows me to be me inside of a sales appointment and it allows me to bring. It's weird for me to talk about myself like this, but it allows me to bring my power to be because I know I'm powerful. I just need to get it there.
[00:07:51] Kim Daly: Yeah. For the listener out there, imagine walking into a sales call feeling anxious, doubtful. I wonder if they're going to buy from me today. How do you think that impacts the words that you say, the tone and the pace of your voice, what the customer feels in your energy?
Right. They don't hear what we say, they feel what we feel.
[00:08:13] Dan Spellman: Exactly. Yep. And it's just so interesting. I was at an appointment Monday and the guy had already had Someone come in and do a quote. He was very honest.
And I just went into that appointment knowing that he already had a quote from somebody else. So I just went into that appointment and said, just be as professional as you always can be. Don't put on a face that's not your face. Just be you.
You is enough. So I did the appointment, I did the quote. He and I talked a little bit and he called me yesterday and he's asking me questions and he said, okay. Then he said, there's a little bit of a money difference between you and the other guy. But I really appreciated the way you handled the appointment. I said okay to myself, I said, that's me being powerful.
[00:09:01] Kim Daly: Exactly.
That's you being you standing in your power.
These subtle nuances are the things that take people's closing ratios from 20 to 80% in 30 days.
I'm not teaching them new scripts. In fact, script is. I'm like, get rid of the script. Enough of the script.
[00:09:24] Dan Spellman: Yeah.
[00:09:24] Kim Daly: When you walk into an appointment, it's a human to a human interaction. Right. When you're all lost in your head trying to make sure you say the right things, the people feel that and it comes across as incompetence.
But when you walk in, relaxed yourself, bold, why wouldn't he do business with me? And you have nothing to lose. You went in knowing he already had a quote. I've got nothing to lose. I'm going to be me.
[00:09:50] Dan Spellman: Exactly.
[00:09:51] Kim Daly: You win the job. So people think like this. Positive thinking. Oh, I have a positive mindset. But do you?
Do you have a positive mindset in the face of rejection?
Do you have a positive mindset when the employee quits early in the morning? Do you have a positive mindset when you look at your bank account and it's lower than you thought it was going to be or than you ever thought your bank account would ever be? As a business owner, do you have a positive mindset? Can you boldly and confidently walk into a sales call when you've lost all the other ones this week? Because anybody can run a successful business when it's easy and good and money is flowing. You don't need the Zee suite.
[00:10:33] Dan Spellman: Right?
[00:10:33] Kim Daly: That's not reality.
[00:10:35] Dan Spellman: I went to a sales call yesterday and it wasn't a big ticket, but it doesn't matter. They all count. And I marched through that appointment and just took her money. It was like, I don't mean to say that in a bad way. It was just like, no question. And I could feel it from her that she was Going to do business with me. Just like, no question, done with the appointment. And I said, okay, the way we do business is you do half down and half when I install. And she said, oh, I'm just going to give you the whole thing today, Dan. I'm like, okay,
[00:11:01] Kim Daly: this is what happens when you're standing in your power. People want to bless you abundantly. So let's go back for the comparing and the contrast. So you were in this zone and then what started to happen? What did you stop doing that then led to you plateauing and having a couple of down months.
[00:11:19] Dan Spellman: We have in the Z suite, we have some books that we like, right, that we read. I stopped listening to Tell Me
[00:11:25] Kim Daly: the Strangest Secret.
[00:11:27] Dan Spellman: Thank you. I stopped listening to the Strangest Secret. I used to listen to it every day. Going to my first appointment, I stopped listening to it. I honestly, I don't know why I did that. I stopped reading the books. I guess really what it comes down to is I stopped believing in myself somehow. I don't know why. I think it's my old self rearing its ugly head. And you know, I need to get to the place where I am my most powerful because not only will it affect and help my business, but it will affect and help and help my personal life, my relationship to my kids, my relationship to anybody that I meet. That's where I need to get to because I know that's my most powerful self.
[00:12:09] Kim Daly: And the fact that you feel there's a gap that's going to keep you stuck there. Dan, there's so many things I wanted to go back and say and this is me. He understands everything I say is totally judgment free. He's paying me to be his coach. So as I listen, I'm listening intently to what he's saying.
So when we feel like we have to be something other than what we are in order to get something, we end up holding our goodness away from us because the reality is we'll never get there. So what I'm going to ask you to do today, Dan, is to change those words and say, I am already the Dan I want to be. And then from there you step boldly into your life and the world will show you, will meet you right where you are in your power, just as you've experienced this week with these sales appointments. So going back to what happened, this is very common. Dieters often do the same thing. It's almost like a self sabotage. So when you stepped in and you got your biggest ticket and then the next month you Got your next biggest ticket? Perhaps what happened, you're the only one who can know if this resonates is that you hit a ceiling. So we all have an internal thermostat about what we're worth, about how much money is safe for us to make. And the reality is the work that we do in the Zee suite is not to go out and hustle and grind to find a bigger ticket. The reality what we do in the Zee suite is we work on the internal. We move the thermostat because when the thermostat goes up, so do the average tickets. That's the effortless way. So you can go out and hustle and grind and struggle to find those bigger tickets or you can do the work that we do every day, which is putting on a new identity, the identity of the one who already has that which you want. How do you do that if you've never been it? You make it up and you live from that feeling place and you allow your nervous system to normalize.
Million dollar Dan who has hundred thousand dollar month over month. Because you can go out there and you can effort to have a hundred thousand dollar month but you will not sustain it if your internal thermostat is set and comfortable at $40,000 a month. Now you may think why would that be that way? Because maybe you've never made a hundred thousand dollars a month and the unknown is unsafe to a body that's designed for survival.
And therein lies the gap.
[00:14:43] Dan Spellman: Before I started with you in the Zee suite, I had so much negative self talk that I couldn't get out of my own way. And I think that's one of the biggest things that has changed for me is for a while I didn't have any self talk. Right. And I'm bad talk to myself. And I was having these months and then I had a couple months where I'm saying to myself, oh, you're not good enough to do this, Stan. You're not this, you're not that. And I'm starting to pull myself out of it realizing, yeah, whatever you tell yourself is what you are. You tell yourself you're not good enough.
[00:15:15] Kim Daly: You get to be right.
[00:15:16] Dan Spellman: Yep, you get to be right. Exactly.
[00:15:18] Kim Daly: So you ran your business for two and a half years from that place of lack and telling yourself you weren't good enough.
[00:15:25] Dan Spellman: Right.
[00:15:25] Kim Daly: And how did that feel every day?
[00:15:27] Dan Spellman: It felt terrible.
[00:15:28] Kim Daly: So you were doing everything your franchisor told you to do, but you were struggling.
[00:15:32] Dan Spellman: Exactly.
[00:15:33] Kim Daly: You put on a new mindset. The mindset of One who said, I am worthy, I am good enough exactly as I am. I can walk into a networking event and mandar room and everything changed. Because nothing external to you ever had to change. Your system didn't change. Your franchise didn't change. The economy hasn't changed in the last year.
Nothing external to you changed. And you went out and you started creating record months by changing you. And then you stepped back into your human again. Because I think we're here for the human experience, Dan. This is what I tell all my students. We can't begrudge the days when we're just like. We just can't get our mindset right. If we wanted life to be a bed of roses, I don't think our spirit would have come into a physical body and taken on this experience here for the highs and the lows. And when you hit that low, you bottom out again. Here's the thing. You now have tools in your tool bag that you didn't have a year ago that now you can go to. And very quickly, as quickly as you decide I need to get back to doing the daily work that matters the most. And then you're right back on track. The results change quickly once you get back into alignment. And the more you stay in alignment, the more awkward being out of alignment feels. So the longer you do this work, the easier it gets. And I'm telling you, the less effort it takes for you to go from a million to 2 million, from 2 million to 4 million, to think your way into higher levels of production. Because it's now a place in your nervous system that you go to upregulate. You don't take more action in your physical body and in linear time. It's the most crazy thing that nobody's talking about, but it literally changes everything. It's why I'm so passionate about this company called the Zee Suite. Coming into an industry that's totally built on logical strategy and people following the system. And so many franchisees have invested their life savings and they're doing just that. They're following the system, but they're not living the dream because they're full of lack of money. Because there's no understanding that the result of that sales call is not coming from the words you memorized in a script. It's coming from what you feel deep inside of you. So you got to change the feeling, not the words. And it sounds simple enough, but simple and easy, Dan, not the same thing, right?
[00:17:59] Dan Spellman: Nope, not even close.
[00:18:01] Kim Daly: It is a daily discipline. Every single one of us has to do the work. No one gets a pass, right. It's like asking the law of gravity. I don't feel like you pulling me down today. Pull me up. You don't get to change the laws. The laws are the laws. And these are laws of the universe. They're laws of achievement. So I wanted to bring you back into the studio because I knew that you had hit this plateau. And I think it's something to celebrate. I know it doesn't feel good, but it's a level of awareness that now you have that in order to sustain the success you want, you have to do the daily work of waking up. Tell us about your wall across from your bed.
[00:18:44] Dan Spellman: I have all the things that I'm going to manifest in my life on three big pieces of paper across from my bed. And when I wake up every day, it's the first thing I see. And like for the last month or so, when I haven't been my most powerful self, I'm not even reading them.
[00:19:00] Kim Daly: Shame on me. It's the difference. It seems like that can't really be the difference. It's everything,
[00:19:06] Dan Spellman: right?
[00:19:07] Kim Daly: When I, when I was elevating from my 8th to my 9th year, going from that 2:50 a year performer to the $1 million girl I became in my 9th year, every single morning before I got on the phone, this is when I had my old fashioned headset. My Judy from Time Life, remember that? Commercial headset? And before I would start dialing for dollars every day I would see, stand at my desk and I would say, I am a $1 million consultant. Was it true? No. But when I said it, boy did it feel good. It empowered me, it made me bold. And when I was bold, I could get on that phone and I didn't care what anybody said to me. I could command their attention. I could, I could serve them at the highest level. And because I was showing up bold and confident, the people that I was reaching out to and that were reaching out to me were showing up bold and confident. And this is how I became so highly, not just effective, but efficient. People around me were like, how is she doing that? She must be working crazy hours. And I wasn't.
I was highly effective and efficient because inside of me, I had created a comfortable nervous system by verbalizing every single day that I was a $1 million consultant. I was conditioning myself self before I even had words to understand what that meant. And so by law, what had to happen, I had to see a million dollars in my outer reality because that's the law as within.
So without.
That's the law
[00:20:41] Dan Spellman: 100%.
[00:20:41] Kim Daly: So you're back in understanding that you've got to do the daily work. None of us get a pass. We can ride it for a little while, right when we find the sweet spot. It's easy to. It's just like when you're efforting to lose weight and you finally get it. You finally get to the weight you want. You just sort of start cheating here and there. You start taking days off from the gym, but then very quickly your pants get tight and you're like, oh, damn, I got to go back. It's the same idea. We're never going to get it perfect. We're never going to get it done. Every single day is a new day that requires us to step into the identity of the one who we want to be. Not to stand and face reality, but to stand and create our reality. Because that's what we're called to do as humans, and that's what we're doing as business owners. So, Dan?
[00:21:31] Dan Spellman: Yes, ma'.
[00:21:32] Kim Daly: Am. It's October at the time of this recording. We have a couple of months left in this year. Let's make a bold declaration about how you're going to finish 2026.
[00:21:42] Dan Spellman: So I started on this in. In September. This idea, this bold declaration.
So I want to buy a house in 2027 and I need down payment money like everybody else in the world. So I made a declaration that I was going to build my business to the point where I could start taking money from it and putting it somewhere else so I'd have my down payment. And I had a number in mind. And then my mind went into the gutter.
[00:22:08] Kim Daly: This is so interesting.
So this is your paradigm pulling you back from that growth. You stepped into the unknown and you made a bold declaration. And then every single survival instinct in your body said, oh, no,
[00:22:22] Dan Spellman: Yep
[00:22:22] Kim Daly: don't. Pulled you right back. So I want you to dwell from that place every day. I want you to live in that house. I want you to pull your car into the garage. I want you to see yourself painting the rooms. I want you to dwell from that house. Don't worry about the money for the house.
Get to the place of owning that home and watch how the people, opportunities, and events will be magnetized to you to help you effortlessly live in that house. That's the declaration between now and the end of the year,
[00:22:59] Dan Spellman: okay, I'm in.
[00:23:01] Kim Daly: That's what I want you to do. I want you to go back to whatever the practice was your Daily practice. There's so many ways we don't have to sit like Buddha and meditate. There's multiple ways to put on the new mind every day.
We have to become aware of who we are and what works for us. And on different days, it might be different things, but get back, Dan. Make a commitment to yourself right now that you're going to do something every day to put on the mind of the one who to spend time living in this new house and watch.
[00:23:35] Dan Spellman: Can't wait.
[00:23:36] Kim Daly: I can't wait. You're in. The plateau is over. You're back. It's back. The minute that you decide, you make a committed decision, I'm committing to myself that I'm worthy of 10 or 15 minutes every morning.
15 minutes in the strangest secret. 15 minutes of reciting my goals. 15 minutes of sitting quietly and dwelling on what I want and standing in the middle of it and conditioning my nervous system to be there already. You're worthy of it. This is the work that changes everything. Bypass it and you end up back in the gutter.
[00:24:13] Dan Spellman: Yep. And
[00:24:14] Kim Daly: it's okay because it's all experience. Yes.
[00:24:17] Dan Spellman: Okay. The big apartment complex job that I got right back in whatever month that was. I was over there today to take care of a little problem they had and saw the. The developer's wife, who was the person I've been dealing with, and we had a little chat and I said, how many more buildings are you doing? Because originally it was only four, but they've bought a bunch of property around that area and now they're doing seven new buildings. And so I said, kara, am I going to be the person that you hire to do the window coverings in those buildings? And her response was literally, this is what she said. H E L L. Yes.
[00:24:56] Kim Daly: Hell yeah, baby.
Dan is the man. You're back, baby. Plateau over. Dan's standing in his full power. Watch out. He's going to be owning that new home very soon.
